manufacturers using our advertising col-
umns, in any given year, to reach the blue
ribbon operator-subscribers to THE REVIEW_
Today our magazine covers the Ameri-
can continent and more than five thousand
readers eagerly await each issue_ It is the
only publication in the industry that has
shown a definite subscription growth since
Pearl Harbor. Only recently our coverage
was extended to Latin American countries
and THE REVIEW is now on file in all of the
American Embassies of our Sister Repub-
lics to the South. In addition many op-
erators in these countries have entered
individual subscriptions after having ex-
amined the publication in an Embassy
reading room.
There has been a "success formula" be-
hind the rapid growth and acceptance
THE REVIEW has enjoyed. We have never
advanced any idea that might bring profit
to a small group-we have always fought
the fight of the minority and insisted on
complete consideration of the majority-
we have insisted on ethics in advertising
and "gone to bat" for any subscriber re-
ceiving a raw deal at the hands of any
advertiser-we have championed various
causes we believed would help our Indus-
try-and we have spread a truthful gospel
concerning our business in the general
press at every available opportunity. Any
proposition worthy of promotion and in-
dustry-wide
consideration has always
found welcome space in our columns.
THE REVIEW has championed an inti-
mate type of journalism in this Industry.
Sometimes caustic, sometimes frank, it
makes for more eager reading and thereby
makes the publication one to be looked
forward to. This stimulating editorial pol-
icy has provided a platinum setting for the
advertising of the leaders in our business
who freely use our advertising columns
each month.
In this, our Tenth Anniversary Issue,
THE REVIEW is appreciative of the many
tributes from Industry leaders appearing
in this number. We count the ten years we
have been privileged to serve this field the
most enjoyable ten years of our life. We
have enjoyed meeting, serving and helping
all of you to the full extent of our ability.
Regardless of the length of the war THE
REVIEW will continue for "the duration"
and not six months thereafter . . . but,
we hope, for years and years to come. With
your continued patronage and respect
. . . IT CAN BE DONE!

vanished from inspection rooms where they
had been placed in trays, at a time when

LOS ANGELES-William Happel, Jr.,
head of the Badger Sales Co. is back at his
desk after a month spent in the middle
west conferring with his Milwaukee office
and purchasing equipment for both
branches.
Happel made ' the rounds of the larger
operators and distributors in Wisconsin,
ll1inois and Minnesota and as a result there
is considerable equipment flowing West.
Questioned as to equipment conditions in
the Middle West Happel stated that condi-
tions parallel those on the West Coast and
that the better and more ,e xpensive pieces
are rapidly leaving the market and becom-
ing increasingly difficult to unearth,
In Chicago, Bill visited the various manu-
facturers he has known for a number of
years and one of the highlights of the visit
was a golf game with David C. Rockola,
Jack Nelson and Mr. Miller, works man-
ager for Rock-Ola. Apparently Bill was at
his best for he collected the bets.
Happel was accompanied East by Mrs_
Happel and the trip was made by Super
Chief.
