JACK R. MOORE CO.
PAUL A. LAYMON
Spokane, Seattle, Por tland,
San Francisco , Salt Lake City
Los Angeles, South West and
Southern California
has disposed of his Wired Music system in
Las Vegas.
Paul Hirschler, Pasadena, has taken over
the operations of George Aristaga in Fresno.
Howard Hong, L. A. operator who has
made the Arcades in Chinatown really spin,
joined the Army and said good·bye to local
coinmen the first part of September. Others
who were in PauL.: Laymon's to say adieu
were M. C. Bledsoe of Santa Barbara, who
is joining the Army; Alex Koleopolus of
Bakersfield who hf'pes he will land as a
Mess Sergeant, for Alex had like experience
in the last fracas; and George Joyce who
was inducted on the 3rd and found himself
appointed as a mili'tary policeman in San
Francisco a few days later.
H. E. Murphy, who opera tes the Arcade
at Crestline, was in on the 9th to buy new
equipment from Laymon and Southwest
Vending for his new Arcade at I ndio.
Lucille Arnold, femme stronghold of the
operating fra ternity at Barstow, made Gut·
shall's, Laymon's, Kaplan's and a couple
of other spo ts on her' first of the month
visit.
L. B. McCreary, of the E. T. Mape Music
Co., is back at his desk following a vacation
visit with his folks in New ·Mexico. Mac
made the trip by air.
Jimmy Flanagan, former mechanic at
Laymon's, is back in harness at the same
post.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kaplan are enjoying
their Canadian vacation. The Kaplans took
it the easy way this year and used the train.
Gone three weeks the office got a card from
Wi'nnipeg that all was well and both were
enjoying being in familiar country aga in.
Harry was born and raised in Canada and
all of his relatives are there. The Kaplans
will spend the New Year's with their rela·
tives and return to Los Angeles about the
first of October. In the meantime, Jimmy
Jones assisted by Marjorie Morgan, are
holding down the home fort and taking care
of operators in the usual Southwest Vend·
ing fashion. When it comes to superior
service Jimmy and Harry have a corner on
the idea and Jimmy is really carrying out
the firm's policy while Harry is away.
Fred White, operator at Visalia, was in
Los Angeles on the 10th to pick up new
equipment.
William McDow, former service man for
Laymon's, is now a Sergeant and is some·
where in Europe. Last letter received
showed that McDow is now across the seas.
M. C. Thornburg, Wasco, called in Los
Angeles the first part of the month to pick
up new equipment.
The 3 Little Sisters record has nothing
on Marjorie Morgan at Southwest Vending.
Take it from Jimmy Jones. Marjorie is in
love wi th a soldier, a sailor and a marine,
and as Jimmy puts it "There hasn't been a
ceiling established on boy scouts." Anyway
Marjorie is a swell kid and as such, takes
a lot of kidding from the lads.
Clyde Flynn was in the first part of Sep·
tember to buy parts for his operations at
Crestline.
Another resort operator in was Ray Rey·
nolds from Big Bear, who reports that th is
season has been the biggest in years for
him.
Arlene Ginse, secretary to Paul Laymon,
was married to Russell Earl on September
7th, and left immediately for a honeymoon
trip to the high Sierras. Arlene will con·
tinue on at Laymon's, in addition to serving
as a Corporal in the Women's Ambulance
Defense Corps.
Mitchell Gouff has purchased Bob Cross·
man's route in San Luis Obispo and reports
business A·I.
.
1. C. Spencer, prominent operator of EI
Paso, Texas, has been vacationing in the
West and took time to drop in on his old
friend , Jimmy Jones, at Sou thwest Vending.
As a result Spencer wrote home that a lot
of fi ne equipment was on its way down thar
from SW.Vending.
Jack O'Brien, Mac Sanders former servi'ce
man, is in the Navy and is now at sea .. .
destined for a foreign port .. . according
to letters received.
George Kell ey, Laymon fix·it·up man, is
