Bob Reeder of Coin Machine Service,
Glendale, can tell some pretty good yarns
on working slots at stags. At a recent Eagle
shindig the scheduled gals failed to show
"as advertised" and the visiting Elks wanted
their money back. After filing out orderly
and receiving their money, they hit upon
the idea of climbing in the windows and
filing out again for a second refund. All
of which led to a riot with rocks breaking
all the windows in the hall and smashing
things in general. A few carloads of officers
finally restored peace and sent the visiting
Elks home.
H. L. Mitchell, former associate editor
on THE REVIEW, was sworn into the army
on November 7th.
Fred Gaunt has closed his Trojan Nov-
elty Co. on Pico Blvd. and is now holding
forth at General Music.
Jane Carico did it again. Yes, Jane made
one of her well-known jaunts to San Fran-
cisco to see that certain some one. Back
at her desk at Jack Gutshall's she is taking
a powerful lot of kidding from the boys.
AOLAC is planning to put a service car
into operation for the benefit of the mem-
bership now that the help situation and
pending gas rationing are offering such
problems.

and Buckley Music Systems, spent some
time the first part of November with Bud

Chicago.
When Cole Brothers circus played locally,
Bob Reeder of Coin Machine Service re-
paired a few of their slots. The circus
carried 10 slots in their privilege car on
the circus train.
Complaints have come in to the police
department that some of the pictures in
local Arcades are not the type of stuff for
little boys to look at and as a result the
city council has been asked to prepare an
ordinance to regulate arcades.

Petrillo Fight Continued
NEW YORK- In a statement issued Oc-
tober 16, the National Association of Broad-
casters revealed its plans for continuing
the fight against the American Federation
of Musicians recording ban.
"J udge Barnes' decision eliminates, as a
practical matter, the possibility that gov-
ernment action under the anti-trust laws
will solve the Petrillo problem," said NAB.
"Since the decision, however, is based en-
tirely _on the Federal statutes, it does not
adversely affect litigat ion in the State
Courts. The NAB is informed that tran-
scription compani'es are considering the
bringing of State Court suits which will
test out the various questions involved, in-
cluding, of course, the question of com-
mercial transcriptions, which Petrillo has
already admitted do not exercise an ad-
verse effect upon the members of his Union.
The NAB, in accordance wi th plans al-
ready made, expects to cooperate in the
prosecution of these suits. The highest
courts of a number of States have taken
positions entirely different from that evi-
denced in the cases brought under the
Federal laws, and it is believed tha t appro-
priate suits in State Courts have a substan-
tial chance of success."

tube and lam p requirements of their cus-
tomers will be taken care of from their
warehouse sto ck.
In making the move R. S, Shelley said:
" We are moving out to our warehouse be-
cause of the shortage of competent help
and in an effort to expediate shipments to
our customers. Even though our warehouse
is located in West Los Angeles our local
customers can enjoy our usual prompt serv-
ice by phoning their orders for delivery via
United Parcel. We will continue to carry
an ample stock of Ken-Rad tubes and
lamps and hope to be able to take care of
our customers r equirements for the balance
of the war."
Treasury Commends Nelson
CHICAGO.-Earlier this year, Jack Nel-
son, Vice President and General Sales

Sam" Defense Stamp Merchandi'sing idea
for Music Operators. The plan has proven
to be most sllccessful and in many sec-
tions of the country the automatic phono-
graph in numerous locations is selling 50
to 150 25c stamps every week through use
of the idea, As a result Secretary of the
Treasury Henry Morgenthau has written
Nelson a letter commending him upon th e
plan,
Now Art Kassel and Bluebird, in tribute
to the nation-wide popularity of the idea,
have produced a record entitled "Ring the
Bell for Uncle Sam." Jack Nelson's name,
