DECEMBER

WASHINGTON.- As the Treasury De-
partment's special six weeks' War Bond
Payroll Savings Campaign progresses from
November 15th to New Year's Day, the
War Savings Staff is anxious to secure as
many ideas as possible on how different
companies are planning to put across their
individual drives for 10% of payroll.
These ideas in turn will be passed on
to other companies to aid them in reaching
the mutual objectives before New Year's
Day.
The continued success of the War Sav-
ings Campaign depends on the Payroll
Savings Plan, which has proved the most
effective means of insuring the systematic
purchase of War Bonds by millions of
workers. Consequently, the War Savings
Staff is trying to complete the job of
signing up every wage earner for 10%
through the Payroll Savings Plan not later
than the first day of 1943.
Help the national campaign, first by
putting over the drive in your own com-
panv, and then by telling the War Savings
Staff how you did it. Send this vital infor-
mation to Payroll Savings Division, War
Savings Staff, Treasury Department, 709
12th Street, N. W., Washington, D. C.

5 Hr. Film Program Coming
CHICAGO-This device, now being made
available for use in our armed services,
represents an after-the-war innovation
which has its application in the coin-
operated music box field .
By using sound-on-film, scratching and
breakage are eliminated; storage space and
weight are reduced.
This new compact selective sound-on-film
reproducer has a capacity for playing up
to five hours from one 2,000 foot, 5 track,
16mm. film recording.
A specially developed film stabilizing
mechanism, plus the use of ' a powerful
synchronous motor, assures even sound and
utmost in tone quality. Film breakage is
almost impossible.
Noiseless reproduction of al) types of
sound tracks is a feature made possible
by a specially designed optical system
coupled with a no,iseless source of exciter
lamp supply and a special photo-electric
cell.
Illustrated is the portable unit which
with a few changes could be changed into
a coin operated film phonograph.
NEW YORK.-What happened to the
thousands of pinball marble tables picked
up by New York police was disclosed in
the November 7th issue of the New Yorker.
Hunter College has stepped in and is using
the mechanisms of the tables in their vari·
ous experiments.
"It all happened this way," spoke a Hunt·
Doze Moves to Kingman
er College official. "'Way back last spring ,
KINGMAN, Kans. - W. R. Doze has
a couple of us here read about the police
moved the headquarters for his operating
smashing up pinball machines, and we had

Doze, "and we believe we are set up to do
the thousands of electric circuits salvaged,
a better job of operating than ever before."
our experiments continue unabated ' and,

THE REVIEW:
If Webster were writing his diction-
ary in this day and age. his definition
of the word "pull" would be:
PULL-potent as.a Coin Machine
Reviewad.
I must of necessity forego my ad for
the December issue. The reason for this
is too many Vest Pockets at one time
and I must get caught up before doing
it again. much as I dislike hiding my
candle under the bushel.
