NEW YORK-"Because he is such a ter-
rific asset to the band," Horace Heidt has
given pianist Frankie Carle, a slice of th e
Musical Knights. In explaini ng the gift
Heidt made it clear that Carle will handle
the musical end of the hand while he will
devote his time to the business end. Carle
is a composer as well, and is probably best
known for his Sunrise Serenade.
Regent Music is publishing Dick Malt·
by's r iff tune 6 Flats Unfurnished.
Leeds Music Corp. has taken There'll Be
a Time by Tiny Hill and Clarence Stout.
Woody Herman has waxed the new Nemo
tune Please Be There.
Top Acme Publishing Co. has a new nov-
elty by Kemp Read entitled Big Chief Wam-
sutta. Firm also published Window Washer
Man which has been recorded by Vaughn
Monroe, Dick Kuhn and Mills Brothers.
Southern Music has annexed Serenade tI.J
the Sun by Guy Wood and Cliff Friend.
M. M. Cole Music has taken Roll Up
Your Sleeves, Buddy Boy.
Harold Evans has taken over Juggy
Gayles' job as professional manager of R e-
gent Music. Gayles is now with Harms
Music, Inc.
Sandy·Joy-Select has published a new
war tune entitled The Away Down Under
Song by Lou Handsman and Benny Ryan.
Johnny Rodriguez stole a march on Ray-
mond Scott and introduced a new Calypso
tune at the New York EI Chico entitled
Secret Conversation Among Eight Sabo-
teurs Landing from a Submarine.
Lew Pollack in Hollywood has written
the official song for the now famous "Zip
Your Lip" campaign.
News filters from the coast that in Para·
mount's Star Spangled Rhythm Paulette
Goddard, Dorothy Lamour and Veronica
Lake will do a number called A Sweater,
Sarong and Peek-a·Boo Bob.
The Alley Cat
Mc)se/ey Buys Perpetual
RICHMOND, Va. - It's always bargain
day at the headquarters of Moseley Vend·
ing Machine Exchange for this pioneer
jobbing and distributing firm of the coin
machine industry has won a place at th e
top of the ladder for consistently offering
operators of the nation clean equipment at
prices below the average.
States H. F. Moseley, President: "We
consider it a privilege to make good buys
possible for operators week-after·week. We
buy right and we sell right, and every Mose·
ley customer gets a square deal."
Moseley is now being represented each
month in the advertising columns of THE
REVIEW and dozens of exclusive REVIEW
readers are finding Mosel ey an easy firm to
deal with.
40 Grand Appendix
NEW YORK.-It cost Patty Andrews,
of the Andrews Sisters trio, a neat $40,-
000 to have her appendix removed re-
cently in a Rock Island, III., hospital.
Cost was not figured on the hospital
charge but on the theater booking at the
New York Paramount which was neces-
sarily canceled.

Incomes Te» 90 Billio·ns
NEW YORK.-Reports issued by The
Conference Board show that the nation's
income for 1941 reached an all·time high
estimated at $90,000,000,000, 12 billions
more than during the preceding year and
10 billions greater than in 1929, the prev-
ious peak year.
Last year salary and wage payments rep-
resented 67.5 per cent of the national in·
come, compared with 64.9 per cent in 1940.
The low point of such payments, 59.1
per cent, was reached in 1936. The ratio
has been rising steadily since then.
Robbins Has Cig. Vendors
NEW YORK-Now that new ci'garette
vendors are no longer available it is essen·
tial that good reconditioned machines be
made available for new locations, and D.
Robbins & Co. announce that they i)ave on
hand, ready for prompt shipment, a large
quantity of all the leading makes of ma-
chines and all at reasonable prices.
"Our cigarette machines are carefully
reconditioned," advises Dave Robbins. "The
cabinets are refinished to look practically
like new. Operators who order from us can
be assured of receiving machines that will
be in perfect condition."

musical favorites and compiled from informa-
tion gathered in the principal Jcey cities and
