struck Earl Bowman of the McCall Novelty
Co. recently. His wife was driving the fam·
ily car from California and when she was
going through Colorado it happened. The
thief took three of the tires, the best three,
leaving Mrs. Bowman with two worn shoes
to go home on. After shelling out for re-
placements Mrs. Bowman remarked that
she sure would like to see justice done.
Earl grinningly remarked, "They used to
hang a man out West in the good old days
for stealing a person's transportation_"
Virgil 1. Bernsen postcards regularly to
his old bunch at Davies Novelty Co. telling
about army' life. Virgil who has been in
service for more than a year wrote that he
would like a few rounds of golf and a few
rounds of 'Bud', there being a seeming
shortage of these two activities around Fort
Sill where he is stationed.

Post Likened To Sears
CHICAGO-Always a popular gathering
place for operators, the world famous Buck-
ley headquarters now might be called a
1942 model of the old cross roads days
when the Trading Post was the center of
activity for the pioneers.
The launching of Buckley Trading Post
at 4231 W. Lake Street, Chicago, has given
to the operating fraternity the first all-
coverage machine and supply service this
industry has known.
Discussing the rapid growth of the Trad-
ing Post with P. J. Buckley, founder, some
interesting sidelights on" coin machine serv-
ice were brought out.
"A Trading Post always is associated with
pioneers and since our organization has pio-
neered some of the operators' biggest suc-
cesses we felt the homely atmosphere of the
Old Trading Post would appeal to them.
" We also felt," Buckley went on to say,
"that something more than just a jobbing
service was needed. Most every operator,.
large or small, always has something he
would like to sell, or trade. So, with a
trading post it was possible to help oper-
ators pass on their good workable machines
to others while being able to obtain what-
ever machines they needed on their own
routes.
"Another point we were careful to build
around was economy in buying. With the
war time scarcity of machines we knew
that machines would be in big demand and
prices considerably higher. In order to help
equalize th e price level the Trading Post
makes it possible to exchange machines
between buyer and seller without the bur-
den of extra shipping charges which the
jobber has to add on to his price when he
stocks machines.
"While thousands of machines on our
lists will never pass through a third hand
in the exchange because we hook up buyer
and seller, nevertheless, we have provided
one of the largest and most complete stocks
everyone's got c:r nickel for
