Cross Offers New Juice Bar
For Cold Canned Juices
At time of going to press with this
show issue, Jack Cross told COIN
MACHINE JOURNAL that he would
have his new juice vending machine on
display at this show. This new ma-
chine identified as Juice Bar vends
chilled cans of fruit and vegetable
juices for immediate consumption.
Cross is president of Juice Bar Cor-
poration, 270 Madison Ave., New York
City.

Machines have been coming off pro-
duction lines during recent weeks af-
ter months of research and tests.
Initial orders have been delivered to
operators in leading cities. Deliveries
in quantity will be made before first
of the year.
Juice Bar vends six varieties of
non-carbonated beverages in hermet-
ically sealed six-ounce cans. Machine
has a capacity of 300 cans, each sell-
ing at a dime; and all juices vended
in this machine are packed by nation-
ally known canners. Machines already
in use stock orange, grapefruit, apple
and tomato JUiee, blended citrus
drinks, such as orange and grapefruit,
as well as a chocolate milk drink.
Cross, who headed the Tel-Juice di-
vision of Telecoin, Inc., before form-
ing his own company, said that other
beverages will soon be available in
six-ounce size, including prune juice
and apricot and peach nectar. One in-
teresting feature of the new machine
is its fabricated durable plastic, and
laminated heavy-duty plywood cabi-
net, which eliminates the use of steel
in the cabinet. Refrigeration is sup-
plied by Nash· Kelvinator. Coin unit
accept nickels, dimes and quar;ters,
giving correct cha.nge.

Operators of various machines often
find it good for play to peg the coming
movies and to tie in with local theatre
promotion; and some will want to peg
this picture coming up.
The picture is a product of Lippert
Productions and film is being produced
by Bill Stevens at Republic Studios .
Moreland, will be remembered for
his public relations work, and his
interest in coin machines, supervising
the coin machine properties in the
forthcoming Jimmy Stewart picture
"You Gotta Stay Happy," much of
which was shot in Chicago and Newark
last June. (See June Coin Machine

Record Reviewer, Coin Machine Journal
Whenever a popular . song shows
promise, the rush by top artists to
record it is something to behold. Such
is the case of "Senorita" in which
Frankie Boy, Johnny Johnson, Jack
Smith, Dennis Day and Andy Russell
have all tried their hands. For quality
of voice, smooth mus, ical backing and
genuine appeal for all listeners we'll
string along with Dennis Day's re-
lease. (Victor 20-3208). However, you
can never underestimate Sinatra's
drawing power, Columbia 38334, nor
can you neglect a most promising
vocalist, Jack Smith, Capitol 15293,
Doris Day and Buddy Clark have
teamed up to do a clever, first-rate
job on "My Darling, My Darling" and
they have collaborated on "That Cer-
tain Party" on the B side. You'll be
hearing this pair much more as a
result of this happy blending. Col-
umbia 38353.
Jo Stafford and Gordon McRae
waxed "My Darling, My Darling" and
e_vidently intended it for the A side.
It's certainly as good as the Doris
Day and Buddy Clark version but the
sleeper is "Girls Were Made to Take
Care of Boys." If this isn't one of the
season's outstanding hits, then a top
pair of artists, a fine tune, excellent
lyrics and a smooth arrangement just
can't be appreciated. Capitol 15270.
"Life Gets Teejus, Don't It?" is get-
ting a big play these days and you'll
be wise to stock it. Texas Jim Robert-
son pairs it with a lesser effort, "Bread
and Gravy" and it's the A side all the
way here. Victor 20-3228. Tex Wil-
liams has coupled "Life Gets Teejus"
with "Big Hat Polka" and here again
the A side is the only one that mat-
ters. We have a hunch this number
will be around for some time. Capitol
15271.
Dinah Shore's star seems to be in
the sky a~ bright as ever. Her "Say
It Every Day" is reminiscent of the
"Try A Little Tenderness" of yester-
year. She has paired it with "Far
Away Places" to make a pleasing
package. Columbia 38356.
Johnny Johnson's work in Holly-
wood's pittures has kept him from
going all out in the recording field
53
but the boy has talent and he shows it
in the few discs released to date.
"It's Watcha Do With Watcha Got"
gives Johnson' an opportunity to show
versatility and that he does. "When
You and I Were Seventeen" is on the
B side, exactly where it should be if
it has to at all. MGM 10313.
Ted Weems used to have a singer
with his band when he was playing
Chicago's Trianon ballroom 'way back
when. This singer originally started
out as a barber but like most of us,
he thought he could do better. He did.
Today Perry Como is riding a crest of
popularity which, if he continues to
deliver as he has, will carry hini to
"Ed says nothing'• Impossible for him since ha got that shipment
of G-E lamps for his coin m,achines. General Electric lamps are a
sure cure for "burn-out blues." Even if they're hard to get, it pays fo
keep on asking. General Electric Co., Ne/a Park, Cleveland 12, Ohio.
