E i g h t vari-co lored m etal horses run noiselessly around
th e track as coin chute is p u lle d out after insertion o f co in.
S p eed of horses and length of race can be increased or
decreased b y adjustm ent inside bottom of m achine. A n
eccentric locks the slide as it is pushed forward after the
coin is inserted and unlocks as the coin slide is p u lle d out.
The advantage of this eccentric is that it provides a positive
lock for the slide w ithout the use of gears or teeth . The
special flat gear rack which starts the horses rotating is
alw ays in mesh w ith the gear on racing mechanism. This
means no clashing of gears, no jum ping , slipping or stick
ing and no subsequent faulty operation or loss o f p la y
w h ile w aiting for a service man. Lack of need for service
means m ore profitable operation with maximum satisfac
tion to location ow ner and permits the operator to enlarge
the territory he can pro fitably cover.
A s in actual pari mutuel race p la y , odds are posted after
each race. W ith B E L M O N T -J R . the odds range from 2 -to -1
to 1 0 - t o -1 . The operation of odds mechanism is e n tire ly
in d ep en d en t of racing mechanism and can not b e con
tro lle d b y p layer. In both exterior beauty and m echanical
construction B E L M O N T -J R . is com parable o n ly to a fine
clo ck. There are no balls, pins, holes or revolving discs.
/ \ button on outside of case permits p la yer to select the
horse he wishes to p la y . Should he, on failing to w in ,
endeavor to turn the selector button to m ake it ap pear that
he had w o n , or should he endeavor to change the w inning
horse or the odds b y tiltin g the m achine, the arrow im
m e d ia te ly flies around to " F O U L " and w inning horse is
au to m atically disqualified. Last coin p la y e d is alw ays in
sight and remains fu lly visible until next coin is p la y e d .
P la y e r can not control the racing mechanism in a n y w ay
and w inner can n o t b e determ ined until the horses have
sto pped .
