Watling Working on
Tax Refund
• The following letter to operators of
Watling Manufacturing Co. equip
ment will acquaint the trade with the
activities of Mr. Tom Watling in se
curing a repeal of the ten per cent ex
cise tax on venders:
SPECIAL NOTICE
TO OPERATORS OF
WATLING MANUFACTURING
COMPANY MACHINES
‘This is to advise that we have
taken the matter up in reference to
the 10 per cent government excise tax
WHICH WE HAVE PAID TO THE
GOVERNMENT ON ALL VEND
ING MACHINES OF OUR MAKE,
and we have filed a claim for a refund
of said tax.
“We have been working on this
matter independently for some time,
and it is needless for us to tell you
that the governmental matters do not
move any too fast when it comes to
handing out money that they have
collected.
“Please remember that this tax still
applies, but when we get the ruling
and the refund of the tax we have paid
and which we have collected from our
customers, we will refund the said
tax to our customers.
“The legal expense and other inci
dentals connected with obtaining a re
fund will be quite an item, and no
doubt you would be willing to stand
your pro rate share on the tax you
have paid to be deducted from the
amount of the refund you are entitled
to.
“BUT WE ARE NOT GOING TO
ASK YOU TO KICK IN A DIME.
We will assume all the expense of
getting the refund, and we will be
only too glad to refund to all of our
customers the amount of tax we
charged them which we turned in to
the government.
“We want you to be a little patient,
as it may take up a little time to get
this refund, but feel assured that we
are working in your interest as well
as our own, we are
Yours truly,
WATLING MFG. CO.
“P. S.-—We will keep you posted

As original manufacturers of SKIPPER un

who invented it, Bally protects your profits
by producing a mechanically perfect ma

subjected to the most careful tests, because
the slightest imperfection or irregularity will
affect the rolling of the marbles and result in
excessively high reward percentages. Avoid
all chance of trouble by using only the gen
