In a friendly talk w ith a Coin
Maehine Journal reporter, M r.
D avid
C. Rockola, President
of the Rock-Ola M anufactur
ing Corporation, gave the fol
lowing interesting facts about the
Company’s forthcoming new ma
chines, W ings and the Official
Sweepstakes.
Says M r. Rockola:
“ Nowadays, there are so many
firms springing up into the busi
ness, and everyone has a new
game or two, that operators are
getting to the point where an
nouncements no longer get them
excited.
“And I don’t blame them some
times.
“How ever, the two new games
that we shall presently place on
the m arket are really going to
have m erit. O f course, I realize to
make a statement point blank like
this may not be very convincing.
“ But, operators in this country
as well as in the leading foreign
coin machine centers know that
we have a good reputation for
putting out outstanding products.
ful.
W e made tests of every sort
and kind imaginable. Th e result
is that we have two games that
we know are proved profit m ak
ers.
W h a t Is W in g s ?
“Take for example, W ings. W e
believe this new game puts to
good advantage the fascinating
principle of the pin games. H o w
ever, instead of being a mere
copy, it has a moving playing
field. The moment the player
puts the coin into the machine,
the whole board goes into action
w ith the result that not only is
the player himself interested, but
the game draws attention to itself
and ‘calls over’ other players.
Thus, the operator benefits by in
creased play.
G ood L ooks
" It goes without saying that
good looks play an im portant part
in a machine. Therefore, in de
signing Wings, we employed the
aid of some of America’s foremost
artists and designers. And, when
operators see the machine, they will

realize that the rsuits of pain were
worthwhile.
“You can talk about a rainbow
of colors, but W ings stands out
as a fine job of real beauty, we
believe.
“As for mechanism, w ell—-I’ll
leave that to any experienced op
erator in the country. H e knows
that anything this company puts
out is mechanically right.
W h a t I s th e O ffic ia l
S w e e p s ta k e s ?
“W hen it comes to the Official
Sweepstakes, the word official de
scribes the game.
“I t is the real thing. Horse,
jockeys, crowds, everything plus
. . . a special feature that makes it
possible to give changing odds.
“This means that operators w ill
have a game that they have long
needed. The Official is the real
game, and we are confident it
promises to make a clean-up all
over the country.
“N ow then, in a general talk of
this kind, it is somewhat difficult
to get into exact details. But if
any of your readers would like to
know anything special, I ’ll be
very glad to hear from them.”
