Keeney W ill Produce
New Steeplechase
Keeney & B o b s , Chicago, who
have figured in some of the big
gest machine successes, have closed
a contract with patentees of the
new Steeplechase machine whereby
they will produce and sell nation
ally this latest of creations.
“ We have made a careful sur
vey of new ideas” J. H. Keeney
told representatives of the Coin
Machine Journal, * ‘ and believe this
new type of amusement and trade
machine will be one of the greatest
successes ever produced.
* ‘ Since we have figured in many
of the major selling events of this
industry, from bells to pin games,
we feel there will be an unprece
dented demand for this game.
There is a tendency toward up
right playing fields again and the
ideas embodied in this machine,
which are fully covered by pat
ents, meet every consideration
which experience has taught en
ters into any popular game or
amusement machine” Mr. Keeny
said.
‘ ‘ Our production department
has been keyed up to produce
these machines in such quantities
as to give prompt delivery making
it possible for operators to get in
on the unusually high earnings
from the start.
“ Machines already tested out
show a distinct trend upward in
earnings as compared to many
games we have sold in our his
tory. ’ ’
Steeplechase which was described
in a previous issue is a cabinet
game which stands upright on the
counter or stand; and the playing
field is upright allowing marbles
to roll down the face of the ma
chine from a starting position.
Stampings arranged in eccentrics
or hazards cause the varied colored
marbles to change position, divide
and mix again in their zig zag race
down the front of the machine to
the finish, simulating a horse race.
The background of the machine
enhances the playing appeal as it
represents an English steeplechase
course, which differs from our own
racing course because of its cross
country runways and the various
hazards and obstacles employed
to test the speed and skill of the
horses and their riders.
The machine and mechanism,
simple as it is, is protected by
strong patents and patentees an
nounce they will guard their rights
against infringement by vigorous
prosecutions.
Jobbers and Operators who have
seen the new machine pronounce it
to be one of the most original and
outstanding ideas ever seen by
them; several jobbers having al
ready arranged to place quantities
as soon as delivery is made.
W ill Assemble Machines
In Canada
As a result of the Ottawa Trade
Conference, the Charles E. Santo
Sales Company have arranged to
give country wide distribution
throughout Canada to coin ma
chines produced in the United
States by having machine parts
shipped to them and assembled in
their Canadian shops, -
.
Under this arrangement they
will be able to overcome the handi
cap imposed on American manu
factures by the customs duties.
Charles E. Santo is one of the
outstanding jobbers with head
quarters at London, Ontario. Sev
eral manufacturers, we under
stand, have arranged for this
service.
Mr. Santo is endeavoring to in
crease the sale of games and ma
chines in Cananda through a na
tion wide sales organization and is
planning a comprehensive selling
campaign for that seetion of the
country.
