A lock such as the Baird Lock on your cash door is
the best that money can buy. It prevents the petty
thief from gaining access to the cash box.
Baird Locks are logically chosen by many of the lead*
ing scale and vending machine manufacturers.
Let Baird Locks solve yoiir lock problems just as they
solved them for Sheffler Brothers. Write today for

One of the most amazing skill
games played in Japan for cen
turies, now being introduced into
the United States and Canada.
Designed and finished irt Japanese
fashion. It is a game played with
balls in matching colors. Not a
pin game, though similar.

F o l l o w in g the introduction of con-
ductorless busses in Paris, machines vend
ing tickets are being installed at bus
stops. Some machines supply tickets at
regular rates, while others issue paste»
boards at reduced rates to disabled war
veterans. When passengers enter the bus
they cancel their tickets on a special
machine. Tourists not understanding
French find the system a great help.

H e r e we are again boys, and
before we go any further I want to
wish you all a happy and a pros
perous new year. Most of us found
the last year pretty bad— but we

live and hope.
Just received a letter from Mr.
Slack of N. J. which says he is back
on the job again and customers
are asking for more machines, but
he can’t get them fast enough.

I recently heard of a local oper
ator who has competition of a dif
ferent kind entirely. He claims
that wherever he places a pistol
target machine in his territory a
certain operator jumps in with a
large digger machine. Now this
makes it kind of tough for him be
cause as you know the large ma~

chine naturally gets thfe first pen
nies. Personally I can’t see why a
man who calls himself an operator,
can’t go out and find his own loca
tions (God knows there are plenty)
instead of dogging the other fellow.
All 1 can say to you John is— take
it as a compliment to your ability
in finding locations that pay— and
laugh it off.
Thanks for the letters received.
They were all answered person
ally. Why can’t we hear from
more operators in and around
Connecticut? If you have a better
way of building a mouse trap we
should like to hear it.

Mr. Thayer, president of the company,
was formerly vice-president and factory
manager of the Link Piano Company,
the present manufacturers of this new
phonograph. Watch for its announce
ment in this magazine.

EPARTMENT stores and retail
merchants dealing in refrigera
tors have evolved anew way of selling
refrigerators on time payments.
Four different companies are manu
facturing a coin-operated time switch
which operates with a quarter selling
D
one day’s refrigeration to the cus
tomer. Every month the collectors
of the stores go around and collect
the money in the coin boxes. After
a certain length of time the refrigera
tor belongs to the customer and the
coin device is removed.
