JOURNAL
by hand Mr. Gaines has brought out
a mechanical card game that pro
vides a two handed game. Playing
in turn the cards are selected me
chanically by pressing a button. The
objective is to match the card ap
pearing in the show card position,
or the opposing player’s hand. It
is possible to play such games on
the machine as call for straights,
flushes! and the like.
Although there have been card
reel machines, games and boards, a
search of constructions of the past
few years shows no machine actually
shuffling a commercial deck of cards
and offering competitive drawing
mechanically.
Target practice, horse racing, the
lowly marble game of boyhood and
even baseball and golf have joined
the realm of automatic amusements ;
and now comes the ancient game of
cards, the last to hold out, all
dressed up in a counter model cabi
net with a coin slot and automatic
mechanism to make the amusement
and trade stimulator field unani
mous.
New reducing unit used in motor-
driven games and electrically operated
machines, showing high stage of develop
ment of automatic machines as compared
to equipment in use a few years ago. This
unit was designed by the Merkle-Korff
Gear Co., and is used, on such machines
as the western sweepstakes, digger ma
chines, phonographs, etc.

A . P. Sauve, better known to Michi

the information that since opening his
showroom in Detroit his place has be

Your Deal and Cut’Em
