the pedestal, Phil Falk, sales man
ager, says he is doing a big busi
ness on this item.
A Chicago metal specialties house
is bringing out a line of detachable
steel legs for cabinet games. This
will enable the manufacturers to
furnish both stands and steel legs
for all types of games. The legs are
slightly heavier than wood with the
same rigidity, it is claimed.
P. J. Buckley, of the Buckley
Manufacturing Co., showed us his
new game and a basket full of or
ders, which means that the Favor
ite, which the game is called, joins
the pin family with a good start.
It is a race horse game.
Monthly Check List
E. H. Funke, of the Publie Scale
Co., has just brought out a new
midget scale.
Life is a new game by American
Amusement Co.
Yaughn Novelty Co. has a new
premium item that should be popu
lar with operators. It’s a vest
pocket bottle siphon.

Kentucky Derby
The Ball Games, Inc., will an
nounce a special operators’ deal in
May.
J. H. Austin’s Shooting Star is
making things hum around Spe
cialty Manufacturing Co,
Circus, Scoop. and Digger oper
ators, look out for a new line of
premium goods now being lined up
for a striking announcement.
N. Shure’s Dogs and Pony deals
are going strong.
Automatic Coin Machine Co. is
now in its new home at 3845 Ravens-
wood, a modern three story plant.
A north side concern will an
nounce a n^w digger type machine
shortly.
A Wabash Avenue house has a
new and novel deal for sales board
men.
B. A. Withey has now gone into
production with the automatic
punch board machine and orders on
file will be shipped as fast as the
production department can turn
them out. Several refinements have
been made in the machine since it
was displayed at the show.
The new crystal lacquer finish is
putting new life and beauty into
metal cabinet machines.
Genco’s new finishes are examples
of modem decorative art.
Unless we go color blind, will see
you next month.
Look to the pin games, boys.
Consider their ways and be wise.
They turn not, neither do they spin.
Yet in all history was there any
arrayed like these.

HOUGH many merchandising
plans have run the gauntlet of
success and failure, the bag of sell
ing tricks is by no means exhausted.
One of the most ingenious of these,
has all the elements of a good selling
plan and I refer to what I choose to
call coin-operated merchandising.
Perhaps you have heard of the
thousands of electric refrigerators
that have been sold on the install
ment plan of 25c for every 24 hours
of service. A coin operated electric
switch controls the operation of the
machine. The total payment is
$7.50 per month and I firmly be
lieve that 25c per day is less painful
than any installment selling plan
yet devised.
One of the virtues of coin oper
ated merchandising is that it em
phasizes easy terms and NOT low
price. It is one way of maintaining
price (and consequently profit) de
spite keen price competition. Who
knows but perhaps other devices
can be sold the same way.
T
'J'H E Northwegterer, monthly
house organ of the Northwestern
Corporation of Morris, Illinois, is
now appearing in small newspaper
form. The sheet is attractive in its
news print style.
