Pastor has been acclaimed The
Band of 1943 by the Army Air
Corps at Smyrna Air Field.....
Charlie Spivak’s top number in
“Pin-Up Girl” is “Time Alone
W ill Tell,” one of the n e w
Monaco-Gordon ditties. T h e
tune runs almost five minutes
and is said to be the longest
straight musical sequence used
in a picture to date.....Captain
Glenn Miller’s program is now
heard over NBC Saturday even
ings.

“Hctcha Comia” (Fox Trot)
Spike Jones has come up
with another super-duper nov
elty. He and the band add a
few more unusual sound effects
to their musical vocabulary,
and come up with a really fan
tastic arrangement of that old
Russian favorite “Dark Eyes,”
which they call HOTCHA COR-
NIA, or “Black Eyes.” In this
epic they feature such musical
ly unique devices as tin cans,
assorted fire bells, and a won
derful old-time a u t o m o b i l e
h o r n , and highlight the ar
rangement with some extra
ordinary vocal-gymnastics. The

legendary Willie Spicer solos
on the Sneezaphone, and the
whole number provides t h e
listener with a couple of good,
stiff corn kicks in the b e s t
Spike Jones manner.
On the reverse side of the
record, S p i k e and the City
Slickers play a lament written
by Wilson, Lewis, and Pianta-
dosi, called THE WILD, WILD
WOMEN (Are Making a Wild
Man of Me). Del Porter sings
of the poor, innocent boy who
meets “those fee-rocious wo
men,” and in the second verse
tells the legendary tale of those
phenomena of the highways,
w o m e n drivers. The piece
winds up with a surprise chor
us.
