DUCHIN AND BAND HEAR THEIR NEWEST NUMBER
During a smash-hit week at Buffalo's Century Theater, Eddy Duchin heard his latest Columbia
Recording No. 36501 featuring "Sometimes" and "How About You" played on a W urlitier
Colonial Model in the theater lobby. Grouped with June Robbins, his songstress and the boys
in his band, each holding a copy of the new recording, Eddy pronounced its rendition on the

According to a reporter of
Automatic Age, who listened to
the new “Singing Picture” il
luminated auxiliary speakers,
“These are making a real hit
with the music trade. They not
only have outstanding beauty,
are unique and original, but they
have a fine tone.”
“Singing Pictures” are a prod
uct of Tri-Way Products Co.,
Inc., of New York, who have won
over the music market with the
fine speakers which they have
produced. Executives of this firm
report, “Since the introduction
of the ‘Singing Picture’ illum
inated auxiliary speakers, we
have been in receipt of compli
ment after compliment from
music operators all over the
country. We believe that the
‘Singing Pictures’ can be labeled,
‘The biggest hit in speaker his
tory’.
“There is no doubt as to their
popularity. Our large Model 510

more and still more attention
from coast to coast. Operators
tell us that this unusual speaker-
baffle is the answer to maintain
ing their locations for the dura
tion. They all report that the
Models 550 of which there are
four subjects are the last word
for getting perfect, scientific
sound diffusion in any location.
By hooking 2, 3 and 4 or more
of the Models 550 in series in
any location the finest and clear
est tone results. This is one of
the outstanding reasons why
‘Singing Pictures’ have won such
a large following and the men
are buying them in ever increas

“At the present time we are

are trying our best to fill every
order as it arrives.”

RULE PUNCHBOARDS
" N O T GA M B LIN G "
Los Angeles:— It may be
against the law to run a candy
punch-board in Santa Monica
but in the eyes of the state such
a device doesn’t constitute a
“gambling machine.”
This was the recommendation
here by Franklin B. Cole, State
Board of Equalization referee,
in connection with the case of
Robert J. Collignon, 116 Santa
Monica Boulevard.
Collignon was brought before
the Board after he had been ar
rested and convicted on the
charge of operating a “gambling
device.” His hearing, following
the usual routine, was to de
termine whether he had im
periled his liquor license.
Then Judge Cole learned what
the “gambling” consisted of.
The board dismissed the case.
Judge: “You hit your hus
band with a chair? Tell me,
why did you do it?”
Sighed the little lady: “I did
it because I couldn’t lift the
table.”

based on our “Bill of Rights.”
It is the best guarantee of “Life,
Liberty, and the Pursuit of Hap
piness” which man has ever de
vised. Time has proved its worth.
The unparalleled American prog
ress has established its humane
values.
To live the American Way of
Life is of utmost importance. It is
not enough to just talk about it.
As a guide to living the Amer
ican Way of Life, Melvin Evans,
a management engineer, has de-
velped a ‘.‘Personal Bill of Du
ties” which we, as American citi
zens, should adopt to safeguard
our Bill of Rights.
Here are ten of the points to
live by:
1. I will start the day with a
sincere purpose and feeling
of dynamic good will.
2. I will cultivate awareness
of “others,” their problems
and interests.
3. I will be alert and willing
to give the other fellow a
boost — tactfully — even
though this may mean let
ting him get the credit.
4. 1 will earnestly and ener
getically seek the economic
and spiritual welfare of my
family and myself, and, at
the same time, devote a
substantial portion of my
time to the welfare and in
terests of those about me.
5. I will be scrupulously hon
est, sincere and loyal in all
my thinking and acting.
6. Whatever I do will be done
with all my heart and soul,
with a passion for thor
oughness.
7. I will cultivate the art of
patience under all circum
stances, beginning at home.
9. I will tirelessly add to my
knowledge, not only that of
my job, but also any in
formation that will make
me a more effective citizen.
10. Through resolutely follow-
this program daily, I will
strive, with God’s help, to
eliminate completely from
my personality: fear, in
feriority complex, discon
tent, worry, anger, hate,
jealousy, revenge, shyness,
self-consciousness.
