AUTOMATIC VENDING INDUSTBT
AIDS UNITED JEWISH APPEAL
The Hon. Samuel S. Liebowitz,
judge of the court of Kings
County, will be the guest speak
er at a dinner of the Automatic
Vending Division of the United
Jewish Appeal to be held at the
H o t e l A s t o r , New York,
Wednesday evening,
October
15th.
David Lear, of the Universal
Cigarette Service, is chairman
of the division.
The dinner, marking the
opening of the industry’s parti
cipation in the 1941 war emer
gency campaign, is sponsored by
the Coin Machine Industries
Joint Council of New York; the
Automatic Music Operators’ A s
sociation, Inc., and the Cigarette
Merchandisers’ Association, Inc.
“ The Joint Distribution Com
mittee,” Lear declared, “ is now

food, shelter, medical care and

conducting
the
first
great
planned program for the re
habilitation, resettlement and
adjustment of refugees in our
own land and guiding them into
the American way of life.”
Lear called on the members of
the industry to make the dinner
an outstanding success by turn
ing out in a body for the sake of
suffering victims of oppression.
Serving with Lear in the indus
try’s drive are Charles Aronson,
George M. Glassgold, Benjamin
H. Haskell, Samuel Kresburg,
Sidney Levine, Al Simon, Leo
Willens, co-chairmen; Jackson
Bloom, chairman of the Auto

mittee; Saul Kalson, chairman
of the Brooklyn-Long Island
Automatic Games Committee;
Louis Goldberg, chairman of the
Manhattan-Bronx A u to m a tic
Games Committee, and Lee J.
Rubinow, chairman of the Auto
matic Music Operators’ Com
mittee.
L. A. OPERATORS
GUARD REPUTATIONS
The always-fair-weather leg
end about Southern California
will stay on the books if Los
Angeles operators have their
say about it. Though resort ar
cades all over the country are
closing down after summer
weather’s disappearance, most
arcades here are still open, with
no closing date set.
