BALLY REVIVES
“ BU Y-BO ARD ” IDEA
Discussing the release of Bal
ly’s new Long-Shot 4-multiple,
one-shot pay-table, George Jen
kins, general sales manager, re
vealed that the machine is a “ by
req u est encore” on B a lly ’ s
earlier Sport King table.
MUSIC MAKES DINNER A PLEASURE
Steaks, Chicken Dinners, and Plate Dinners get a big play a t Pinky’s # 2 in Dallas.
The new 1940 Rock-Ola Super Phonograph also gets a big play. F. E. Pingelton is
the proprietor.
NEW TEN STRIKE;
TIME PAYMENT PLAN
“ With more than a full year
of the most phenomenal success
behind it, Ten Strike now makes
its bow in a brand new Free
Play or Cash Reserve con
vertible model, which is already
a sensational triumph/’ said R.
W. (Dick) Hood, president of
H. C. Evans & Co., Chicago, as
his company simultaneously an
nounced the new version of this
unparalleled hit, and also a new
Time Payment Plan by which
the game may be purchased
with great ease. The Free Play
or Cash Reserve idea is said to
be taking the industry by storm,
and operators are hailing it
with high enthusiasm as another
“ gold strike.”
“ In the new model, Ten Strike
reaches new heights in player
thrills and excitement un
dreamed of before,” Dick ex
plained. “ Combining a mystery
handicap and big, tempting
awards, with our famous mani
kin-controlled real-play bowling,
the game has appeal that is al
most irresistible. Each play re
sembles a bowling tournament
in miniature. At the insertion
of a coin, a mystery ‘average
score’ comes up, which the play
er attempts to beat, and there
are juicy awards waiting for
him if he does. As this mystery
average score varies in each
play, there is great incentive for
repeat plays.
The Cash Re
serve feature is entirely auto
matic in action. In the Free
Play, free games are flashed on
the backboard as they are made,
and the total awarded to the
player at the end of each play.
The game is convertible at the
operator’s choice. Mechanically
the new Ten Strike is even more
efficient than the old.
“ The astounding earnings of
this new game, which have al
ready been proved time and
again in all parts of the country,
has led us to inaugurate our new
Time Payment Plan,” Dick ex
plained further. “ By this plan,
the game may be purchased on
a small down payment and the
balance paid out of earnings.
No operator therefore needs to
deny himself this game.”

“ Check up on the fat collec
tions operators are scooping out
of Sport King cash-boxes, after
seven months on location,” said
Jenkins, “ and you see why Bally
is going into volume production
on Long-Shot. Check up on the
premium prices operators are
bidding for non-existent used
Sport-Kings, and you see why
Long-Shot is the biggest news
in months. Because Long-Shot
duplicates all the sensational
features of Sport King— includ
ing the famous ‘Buy-the-Board’
idea, whereby, when forty coins
have been played without a win
ner, all seven selections light up.
In view of the popularity of this
feature in Sport King, we are
preparing for continuous volume
production on Long-Shot from
now until show-time.”
