Geo. Jenkins Is New Bally
Sales Chief
/^ H IC A G O , November 10— Bally dis
tributors attending a three-day
sales parley at the Bally Mfg. Com
pany factory were reported enthusias
tic in their endorsement o f George
Jenkins’ appointment as Bally sales
manager, following the resignation of
Jim Buckley.
George Jenkins, recently appointed
sales manager of Bally Mfg. Com
pany.
“ Although I introduced George as
the new Bally sales manger,” said
Ray Moloney, president o f the Bally
organization, “ he needs no introduc
tion to the trade. The boys all know
Jenkins and are confident he will con
tinue in his new job to give his usual
fine cooperation to the men out on the
front line o f sales.
Responsibility
for the sales of Bally’s new enlarged
line is a big job. But I share the
trade’s confidence in George Jenkins,
and expect the 1939-40 season to be
the biggest in Bally’s history.”
Jenkins’ business career has been
entirely in the field o f sales and sales
promotion. He was form erly secre-
tary-treasurer o f Central Amesite
M fg. Company and vice-president o f
Central West Construction Company,
both prominent in the paving in
dustry. He joined the Bally organ
ization in 1935, and has gained a
reputation among coin-machine men
for his ability to combine aggressive
salesmanship with conscientious con
cern fo r the customer.

Evanston, 111.— Aid. Henry R. Platt,
Jr., called upon Mayor Henry D. Pen-
field to appoint a special committee
o f aldermen to investigate the ad
visability of establishing parking
meters in Evanston. The m ayor said
he would consider the suggestion.
“ I would suggest that such a com
mittee be made up o f aldermen whose
business is in Evanston and that, pre-
ferrably, they discuss the proposal
with local business men and with a
committee from the Chamber o f Com
merce. Let’s get the facts and try
parking meters or reject them,”
Alderman Platt declared, and went
on:
“ Our parking here is more or less
o f a mess and in the western states,
and some eastern states, parking me
ters have been tried with success.
There is no case where meters were
established on trial that they did not
remain as permanent fixtures.”
