Ace Vending Steps Up
Foreign Sales
Ace Vending Company officials re
port a new plan to speed the develop
ment o f foreign sales. Ben Stein is
in charge o f the export department.
“ Communications by cable are used
to expedite sales,” Stein says. “ In
this way we have been able to greatly
speed up business. We also prepay
the return cable and therefore always
get action from the other side. Rather
than carry on a long correspondence
with the foreign buyer, we immediate
ly cable him i f we note from his letter
that he is really interested in buying
used games and quote prices to him
from this city.
“ In this way we have been able to
immediately eliminate any curiosity
seekers and get right down to busi
ness with those inquirers that mean
business.
It may be an expensive
system in the beginning, but we feel
sure that it is working out fo r the
best o f all concerned, and that in the
long run it is the most economical.”
Beer by Meter— Idea
for Manufacturers
The idea o f selling beer by meter
instead o f by the stein or quart, has
been voiced by Mrs. Helen Pannes,
o f Chicago.
“ I got the idea from these parking
meters that you see along the curbs
in some o f the small towns,” said
Mrs. Pannes. “ In those things you
put a nickel into the slot and a flag
comes up to say that you may park
fo r an hour. W ell, why not have a
lot o f such gadgets around a bar?
The customer comes in; he drops his
money into the m eter; then he drinks
beer until the flag goes down again.
“ In my place you drop 60 cents
into a slot and then you get all o f
the beer you can drink fo r an hour—
a cent a minute, that’s the rate.”
“ W here is this join t?” inquired a
chorus o f eager voices.
“ I haven’t started it yet,” said Mrs.
Pannes. I just came around to see
if we could make some arrange
ments to operate the bartenders on
a meter, too.”
New Illinois Lock
Catalog Completed
The Illinois Lock Company, makers
o f “ Duo” and “ Illinois” Locks has

just completed a new catalog which
illustrates their complete line o f cab
inet locks. The catalog is handsomely
printed in two colors on fine enamel
stock and contains, among other in-
ovationary features, a blue print draw
ing and halftone illustration o f each
lock. Accompanying the illustrations
is complete data on construction and
engineering features. Copies o f the
catalog may be obtained by writing
direct to the Illinois Lock Company,
737 W. Jackson Boulevard, Chicago.

Cooperates with Ops
R.
G.
Norma n,
Advertising
Manager,
Rudolph W ur li tze r Co., who prepares the
many beautiful pieces of literature and
publicity produced by the com pany.
“ A fundamental policy o f The
Rudolph W urlitzer Company” , said
R. G. N'orman, Advertising Manager,
“ is that we believe our responsibility
to operators goes further than the
mere manufacture o f the Merchan
dise they use.
“ No matter how good any product
may be, the public has to be told
about it to really get the stage set
fo r the distributive organization. A d
vertising is a big force assisting
operators in securing new locations
with the minimum amount o f time
expended. Create the desire on the
part o f the location ahead o f time
and the operators’ location problems
are made all the easier.”
A t the present time the W urlitzer
company is circularizing close to
400,000 locations o f all kinds through
out the United States and Canada,
telling them why the W urlitzer-Sim
plex Phonograph is a necessary item
fo r their establishments. This is one
o f many similar mailings this com
pany has made within the past fou r
years and the cumulative benefits o f
such advertising is reflected in the
demand upon operators fo r Simplex
installations.

Supreme Gives Strong
Guarantee
Bill Blatt, president o f Supreme
Vending Company, Inc., reports that
his firm has placed its personal guar
antee on the Daval Baseball games
which are now arriving from the fa c
tory in large quantities. Blatt states
that the game is one o f the most per
fect on the market and that his firm
has helped to overcome some o f the
minor defects.
“ A fter making complete tests o f the
games now arriving from the fa c
tory,” Blatt states, “ we are ready to
guarantee them as 100 per cent per
fect in every detail. The game is so
well built that it will withstand the
worst abuse it can be given on any
location.
Our own mechanics had
much to do with the perfecting o f the
game and operators can now be cer
tain that the Baseballs they get from
us will be better than any game they
ever before operated. Daval Baseball
is the kind o f a game that will last
fo r a long time and will earn big
profits fo r the operator because it
meets the demand fo r a fast-action
game with plenty thrills.”
O rToole Photog Is
Busy Man
Official photographer o f Fitzgib
bons Distributors, Inc., Eastern w ig
wam o f the Bally Company, is one o f
the busiest men in the city. E very
day operators come in for repeat or
ders on Bally Booster, it is reported.
While waiting fo r the games to be ar
ranged fo r them they are inducted
into the popular O’Toole Indian Tribe
and have their pictures taken in full
Indian regalia.
John A. Fitzgibbons is as busy as
a bee trying to satisfy the demands
for Bally Booster. He’s rushing out
the games, he says, as fast as they
come in. As he puts it: “ It seems
that the more Bally Boosters we sell
the more the operators want. The
factory is working day and night try
ing to keep up with the demand and
we will supply every one o f those
waiting fo r the game i f they will only
have a little patience. W e have been
assured by Jim Buckley and Ray
Moloney that we will soon be getting
even faster and bigger shipments o f
Bally Booster.”
