September 13 a meeting was
held in Birmingham, Alabama, by
a group of phonograph operators for
the purpose of organizing a State
Association. While only small in
number, this group represented a large
percentage of the phonographs in
Alabama, and was scattered from one
end of the State to the other.
It was the concensus of opinion
from everyone present that a State
Association of phonograph operators
would redound to the benefit of the
industry.
Max Hurvich of the Birmingham
Vending Company, Birmingham, Ala
bama, was elected president, and
George W. Hunter, 12 Gladys Ave.,
Mobile, Alabama, was elected secre
tary and treasurer. The president
appointed Mr. E. C. Collins of Hunts
ville, David France of Montgomery
and F. E. Deaton of Columbus,
Georgia (who operates phonographs
extensively in Alabama) as an advi
sory board.
After considerable discussion an
attorney was retained to represent
F O R
R e - E le c te d
the association. It was decided to
have the next meeting in Mont
gomery, Alabama, on Sunday, October
4th, at the Jefferson Davis Hotel, at
which time the attorney, Mr. Abe
Berkowitz of Birmingham, Alabama,
was to present plans for the or
ganization.
Every operator of phonographs in
Alabama is urged to join this Asso
ciation, which hopes to work for the
betterment of the phonograph busi
ness in the State of Alabama.
For further details, communicate
with officers mentioned above, who
will be glad to answer any and all
questions.
