Represent the supreme accomplishment of all time
in the coin machine industry

Are acknowledged by all operators, jobbers and distributors to be 99%
perfect today— from a mechanical standpoint.
H. L. B A K E R , Vice-President of Paces Races, Inc., also Vice-President of Pace Manufacturing
Co., Inc., the world’s greatest coin-operated machine engineer who perfected “RACES” from the
ground up, says:
Cleaner. Dirt, grease, dust or dampness will not
interfere with the operation of PACES RACES.
“The pneumatic principle is the easiest for the
operator to understand. We do offer a week’s mechan
ical instruction free so that your service man can
render 100% service in the shortest possible time.
This means maximum collections. We guarantee that
anyone can service PACES RACES after our school
ing. It is not necessary to be a graduate electrical
engineer. There is rubber tubing in PACES RACES
but this is foolproof. Rubber tubing will not short
circuit and burn up your machine.
“When Mr. Pace and I discussed what system we
should use in ‘RACES’ I told him we could build
‘RACES’ much cheaper with a full electric system
but that the machine would not stand up— that after
three or four months use the entire electric system
would break down and we would be out of business
and would lose the good will of our customers which
we have taken 10 years to build up.”
“No system except the pneumatic system employed
in ‘RACES’ motivated by electric motor can possibly
stand up under the terrific grind and wear and tear
to which ‘RACES’ are subjected, due to the extraor
dinary play which ‘RACES’ receive.”
Says Mr. Baker: “The pneumatic principle is noth
ing new. It was successfully used in pianos years
ago, some of which are giving perfect service after
30 years of constant use. The best pipe organs today
are operated pneumatically. The brakes on all loco
motives, pullman cars, street cars and motor buses
prove the reliability of the vacuum system.
“Our broad patents have forced imitators of
‘RACES’ to go the secondary route which is electrical.
Electrical contacts cannot and will not operate even
with a minimum of dirt. The pneumatic system eats
dirt and expels it through the lungs in the power
plant provided for this purpose. The ‘RACES’ is
known among many operators as Paces Vacuum
The answer was:
“WE BUILD PNEUMATICS 99
We have been building them 18 months—since Sept. 1 st 1934— the first “RACES” we built and
each and everyone of 2500 more are on location today and giving 100% service.
