Buying Mart Plan Subject
at Iowa Meeting
O R G A N IZ A T IO N of an “Associa
tion Buying Mart” was the prin
cipal subject of discussion at the
regular monthly meeting of the Auto
matic Merchandisers’ Association of
Iowa, held on Tuesday, January 21,
in Des Moines.
Fred K. Chandler, secretary of the
association, first outlined the co
operative buying plan to members
about a year ago. At that time he
P IM
pointed out that the funds accumu
lated under such an arrangement
could be used for promoting a public
relations publicity campaign and in
handling legal matters. A plan of
this kind, he said, would encourage
members of the industry to place
their orders through the association,
which would benefit their own com
munities, counties, and the state.

need for such a plan, members de
clared, which prompted them to take
definite action on the matter at the
January session.
President Robinson appointed Mr.
Chandler chairman of a committee
to work out details of the plan so
that it can be put into effect as
soon as possible. Others appointed
to this committee are Max Langer of
Dubuque, H. Z. Smith of Mason City,
and C. P. Harrison of Fort Madison.
The eight-point program adopted
by the National Council at its session
in Chicago during the Coin Machine
Convention, received the hearty en
dorsement of the Iowa group.
Members voted to hold all future
meetings on the third Tuesday of
each month in the Kirkwood Hotel
in Des Moines.
