We are confident we have attained that ideal in the RANGER ma
chine now presented to the coin-machine industry. Electrical and
mechanical principles employed are scientifically right— that is,
right in theory and in practice. Every part subject to wear is
made of special wear-resisting materials. Practically the entire
mechanism is processed to resist rust and other forms of cor
rosion. Special care has been taken in the selection of material
and manner of forming the various electrical contacts. And,
finally, the “human element” has been overcome by the adoption
of Dowel Construction.
\NGER is, without question, the most carefully engineered
in-operated machine ever offered to operators. Bally’s large
iff of enginers, as well as a corp of special consultant engi-
iers, labored for months perfecting the RANGER mechanism—
nplifying, strengthening, synchronizing— building model after
odel— submitting each model to the most exhaustive tests— re-
cting any part or principle which failed to meet rigid standards
performance— working constantly toward the ideal of a one
indred per cent trouble-proof machine.
Dowel Construction means that, instead of parts merely being
lined up to fit screw-holes, they are lined up by extremely ac
curate dowels or projections, which are die-cast or stamped by
machine. These dowels must fit corresponding holes, which are
also machine-made. Variations of one-thirty-second of an inch
or more can occur when assembly workers are guided only by
screws holes. But when they are guided by dowels, variations
can be measured only in thousandths of an inch— too slight to
be noticed in the operation of the machine. Thus RANGER parts
are micro-accuralely located with respect to other parts. In
other words, RANGER parts are self-aligning; neither the as
sembly worker in the factory nor the operator in the field can
fail to get perfect alignment of parts. The result is absolutely
correct meshing and timing of all parts— smooth, positive,
trouble-free operation!
