SINE CERA!
It is a famous Latin phrase. More than two
thousand years old.
Roman business men in those far-off times
were just as interested in a fair deal as you are
today. They did not want to be fooled. They
did not care to throw their money away.
It was the custom in those days to appraise a
product of merit with these two words—SINE
CERA, which meant “without wax." Without
flaws. Without “bugs”. Without trickery. In
other words, it was “the real thing”—not an imi
tation. From the phrase Sine cera we have, our
present day word sincere.
A suit of pure wool, for example, one without
a mixture of cheap cotton was Sine cera. It
meant the manufacturer was sincere in his pur
pose. He practiced no deception. Did nothing
underhanded Used no tricks.
This Latin phrase can well be applied to the
coin machine business today.
A product to be Sine cera must be one that is
original. One that is not a copy. One that is
mechanically dependable.
It has been, and always will be., the policy of
the Rock-Ola Manufacturing Corporation to build
only original products. To be sincere in the con
duct of its business. Its games—like JIGSAW
and the WORLD’S SERIES—will always bear
the stamp of originality. There will be no de
ceptive take-offs. No attempts to kid the opera
tors into accepting a second-hand copy for the
first class original.
In the WORLD’S SERIES operators and J0^'
bers have a sincere product. An original product-
A product conceived and built with sincerity 0
purpose.
That’s why the WORLD’S SERIES is the best
liked baseball game in America today. It is ^
real thing. Its appeal is genuine. And its ear11'
ing-power far ahead of anything else ever known*
The demand for the WORLD’S SERIES is
tion-wide. From Maine to California operator
and jobbers are clamoring for it. A steady, daw
run of wires, letters, and phone calls attest t
its popularity.
All this is evidence that the operators of An}el*j
ica know what’s what. They know the origin*
product gets the play. That it is better buiy
Mechanically dependable. They know, in
that the original product stands up better tna*
the “product of wax.”
With these facts in mind, let me assure 7?
that you can always depend on Rock-Ola for oris'
inal products. Products without wax . . .

that can be appraised Sine Cera. Products U*
