hand, has a route of merchandise ven
ders that earn a steady income each
week. He can select his choice of the
many new machines of other types,
enjoy to the fullest extent the big
profits from the winners, but if he
buys a flop (and what operator
hasn’t) he does not face financial ruin
from making one bad purchase.
He is ideally situated to put out
the new machines quickly for the lo
cations are waiting on his present
route which has merchandise vending
machines as a foundation. He has a
stable income.
General Coin Is New
Distributing Firm
A s A u t o m a t ic A ge goes to press,
word comes of the formation of a new
coin machine company in Chicago. It
is to be called the General Coin Ma
chine Corporation and has been or
ganized with a capital stock of $25,
000 as successors to Kenney & Sons.
The officers are: G. J. Feinberg,
President; J. C. Horvath, Vice Presi
dent and Secretary, and H. N. Wiwe-
lund, Treasurer.
The purpose of the General Coin
Machine Corporation was set forth in
the following words by the Treasurer,
Mr. Wikelund.
“Arrangements have been made
whereby the General Coin Machine
Corporation will act as the city sales
organization for the distribution of
Rock-Ola products in the Chicago ter
ritory.
Mr. David C. Rockola has been
elected as a director of the General
Coin Machine Corporation. He will
act in an advisory capacity and aid
in the formulation of General’s sales
policies.
“In connection with the distribution
of Rock-OIa products,” Mr. Wikelund
went on to say, “all our activities will
be confined to the Chicago territory
only.
“As for the rest of the country,
outside of Chicago, it will be taken
care of in the usual efficient manner
by the present distributors of Rock-
Ola products.
During the interview, A u t o m a t ic
A ge was informed that this plan of
distribution is in keeping with the
sales plans of other large organiza
tions in other fields. An example is
the Graybar Division of the Western
Electric Company, which acts as a
Chicago sales organization. Another
example is R. Cooper, Jr., which acts
as a city sales organization for Gen
eral Electric.

IN GAMES . . . marble games
. . . skill games . . . counter
games . . . Games! Games!
Games! ,
Money-makers all, and the greatest
of these . . .?
You’ll find them at the Sherman
Hotel, February 19, 20, 21, and 22.
“Reservations are pouring in” the
hotel management says. “Though
hundreds of guests for the Coin Show
have already reserved their rooms,
we’ll make a place for everyone. How
ever, we urge operators to send their
reservations as soon as possible.”
Operators, this is your show. You
will be feted, wined, and dined. You
will lounge in luxurious surroundings.
Ice will tinkle in frosted glasses as
courteous waiters serve you.
Like rich merchants from over the
sea, you will have your every wish
gratified. But all this is just an in
troduction to what March, April, May
and the rest of the year can and will
be for you. For here, in this magni
ficent hotel, the transient home of
many successful business men, you
will find the games that will send
you along the road to a fuller and
happier life.
Yet wrait! Just a word of caution!
Here at your elbow lies an oppor
tunity greater than ever. However,
you must find it for yourself. For
tunes in oil, millions in gold, treas
ures of gems, are not the rewards of
pure blind luck. These are the results
of knowledge, shrewd judgment, and
the courage to go ahead where the
timid may fear to venture. And this
knowledge, judgment, and courage
are just as necessary to the successful
operator.
Tools of Your Trade
The games exhibited at the Coin
Machine Show are the tools of your
trade. Choose them wisely. You must
be careful in your selection. Picture
a miner who has discovered a rich
vein heavy with gold. His fortune
is made! Joyously he starts to work
with an eager energy.
But his pick splinters in his hand.
The blade of his shovel curls. The
tools of his trade can’t stand the
gaff. He is beaten, thrown back, dis
couraged.
Wearily, the light of hope dimming
in his eyes, he sets forth for new
implements. But before he can re
turn with tools which will stand the
gaff, another has taken his place;
another who had the foresight to
choose the right tools has reaped the
harvest that should have been his.
So with an operator. If his games
can’t take it, he may lose his good
location to another who has chosen
more wisely. On the other hand, he
may be like the treasure hunter with
his secret map who goes in search of
buried treasure. His map is at fault.
Someone tricked him. Fooled him
into believing that his was the right
map, the only map! Yet, he knows
that somewhere near, undreamed of
treasure awaits the one who can
find it.
Again so it may be with an oper
ator. A careful operator will look
for certain things in a game. He will
want to know if the game is right—
if it is original and if it has play
appeal.
