Frank W. Tucker of Long Beach reports
good business with what he calls Sure-
Good racks. They are wire racks that he
has gotten up which hold for display,
packages o f peanuts, Boston beans, mints
and various pan confections, even walnuts
and raisins.

Mr. E. Hunt of the California Distribut
ing Company called up the other day to
see if I could help him find a perfume
vending machine. Every once in a while
the movie studios need something for use
in making a picture and they go scouting
around after it. This time they want a
perfume vending machine and an Iron
Claw.

Mr. L. A. Goodenough operates a string
of the Universal Handkerchief Venders. He
also has some miscellaneous penny ma
chines but he wants to get rid of them
and I told him to bring them out and maybe
someone would come along who wanted
them.

This town has been having an old time
Spanish Fiesta and business in general has
been more or less disorganized while vend
ing machine operators have been dressing
up in Spanish costumes and marching in
parades and other such festivities. Maybe
we will settle down now for a while and
get going again.

Movies Go Automatic
A number of a new type of very promis
ing amusement machine have now been on
test locations in Chicago for several weeks,
and will soon be ready for national distribu
tion. These machines are coin-operated
moving picture machines that operate for
a nickel. Just as the Nickelodeon made
history in its day, so here is the modern
movie adapted to a coin-operated machine
and is very promising in its testing period.
The machine is the development of the
Automatic Motion Picture Display Com
pany of Chicago, and is the outgrowth of
an advertising motion picture machine
used by some of the largest corporations
in the country for several years for adver
tising purposes. So the machine has an
interesting history back of it and is not
the product of an overnight dream. The
firm has at their disposal a large plant, and
just as soon as announcement is made to
the trade, they will be ready to fill orders
promptly.
The machine is housed in an attractive
wood cabinet built to convenient height for
an individual to view the picture tnrough
the aperture or opening provided for it.
The cabinet also has attractive advertising
sign to invite spectators. Upon the deposit
of a nickel, the picture starts and runs
in regular movie fashion for approximately
three minutes. The machine uses standard
16mm film and there is a wealth of film
subjects available from many sources, all
the way from rolloicking comedies to ultra
modern and risque bathing beauties.
The surprising thing about this machine
is that on locations it has stead.ly in
creased in the money intake every week
over a long period, when many amuse
ment machines tend to drop off in play
after two or three weeks. Experienced
coin machine men who have seen it and
observed its earnings regard it as one of
the most unusual machines yet developed.
It is a high class machine of course, and
suited to the best types of locations, such
as hotels, arcades, clubs, etc. 1
