Four-Story
Building Purchased
,
Messrs. H. H. Landay and R. E.
Everson o f the Pioneer Automatic
Merchandising Corporation, Detroit,
paid the A U T O M A T IC AGE office a
pleasant call recently. They report
excellent business conditions fo r
their company, and that in its ex
pansion program a four-story build
ing has recently been purchased.
The company plans to put a very at
tractive and unusual display and ex
hibition room o f their products in the
new building. The management is
now busy with the planning o f an ex
tensive advertising program which
will be launched in the early fall.
W e regret to learn that the firm o f
the National Candy Coated Products
Company o f Brooklyn, was complete
ly wiped out by fire on July the
third.
Catalogs of Coin
Controlled Machines
for New Zealand
The W ellington, New Zealand,
office o f the Bureau o f Foreign and
Domestic Commerce has asked fo r
complete
information,
including
terms, c.i.f. prices, and catalogs, con
cerning all types o f coin controlled
machines.
The New Zealand Supreme Court
has just handed down a decision ac
cording to which the use o f vending
machines does not violate any exist
ing laws governing the closing hours
o f shops. A demand fo r vending ma
chines is expected as a result o f this
decision.
Interested firms should address A s
sistant Tracje Commissioner Charles
F.
Kunk«t,
Dominion
Building,
Wakefield Street, Wellington, New
Zealand.

New Zealand Accepts
the Vending Machine
The coin-operated vending machine
has not been in great demand in
New Zealand in the past because its
legal status had not been defined.
Many courts o f jurisdiction main
tained that vending machines were
subject to the law governing the
closing hours o f shops.
However,
the Supreme Court o f New Zealand
has just handed down a decision to
the effect that the use o f vending ma
chines does not violate existing laws,
according to a cable from Assistant
Trade Commissioner C. F. Kunkel,
Wellington.
This decision should
create a demand fo r all types o f
vending machines, and American
manufacturers desiring to enter the
New Zealand market should submit
complete data on their products to
the American Trade Commissioner at
Wellington.
What a Spare Copy
Will Sometimes Do
Mr. Hans Henry Kahrs o f London,
Ontario, writes that a friend sent him
a several months old copy o f A U T O
M A TIC AGE, and that in spite o f its
staleness he found it so interesting
that he wanted a late copy.
Mr.
Kahrs plans an extensive business
trip to various European counti’ies in
August or September and has receiv
ed many inquiries from European
friends who are interested in Am er
ican coin operated machines. He
will visit the Leipzig fair on his trip
and expects to meet many manu
facturers fi’om Germany, Austria and
other European countries there.
