Coin-Machine Jobbers to Organize
At 1929 Convention at Detroit, Mich.
A new and big feature o f the next
convention o f the Coin Machine Op
erators’ Association, will be the or
ganization o f the jobber’s division.
Obsei*vers can detect ths gradual
trend o f the Coin Machine business
going more and more through the
hands o f the jobbers.
It is apparent that' the business of
the jobber is bound to become an in
creasing factor in the trade. Not
°nly is there a growing demand fo r
rebuilt used machines, but the man
ufacturer often finds the job b er’s
outlet the most successful and eco
nomical form o f distribution. The
jobber is in more direct personal
touch with the smaller operators and
our plans go through o f getting
the commercial paper houses to dis
count chattel mortgage notes on
coin machine routes, the jobber will
be in position to discount this pa
per, and market thousands o f ma
chines through his more direct con
nections with the operator.
During the past month we have
teen feeling out the jobbers regard-
JUg the formation o f a job b er’s divi
sion o f the association at the next
convention. A number have re
sponded and the idea seems to be as
sured o f a big success. The jobbers
ai’e being given time in the aiTange-
Uients to hold a separate meeting for
the purpose o f organization and dis
cussion o f problems relating to
standard values on used machines,

trading among one another, dis
counts from manufacturers, credit

W e publish herewith a few letters
received from prominent
jobbers
throughout the country on the sub
je ct:
From New York
“ Acknowledging your letter dated
September 19th, I wish to congratu
late you upon your idea o f having a
special meeting o f the coin machine
jobbers at the coming convention
and exposition in Detroit.
“ I believe that there are many im
portant problems which can advan
tageously be discussed by the various
jobbers. Moreover, I feel that much
can be accomplished by having a
committee o f the jobbers confer with
a committee o f the manufacturers.
“ Not only do I intend to be pres
ent at the Detroit convention, but I
would even welcome the opportunity
to say a few words at the jobbers’
meeting.
“ It is with the greatest satisfac
tion that I receive your letter be
cause it is one more p roof o f the
splendid leadership which you are
furnishing the entire industry.”

“ The suggestion o f holding a spe
cial meeting fo r jobbers is an excel
lent one. The trend unquestionably
is more and more through jobbers.
It is my intention to attend the con
vention and you have my coopera
tion in any movement o f this kind.”

From New Y ork
“ In regard to a special meeting o f
the coin machine jobbers at the
coming convention in Detroit, it is
my personal opinion that a meeting
o f this kind would be a benefit to
both the jobbers and the manufac
turers because thex-e are a number
o f problems which could be gone
over at such a meeting. I certainly
would be pleased to attend such a
meeting.”

“ In reply to your letter o f Sept.
20th, kindly be advised that if there
was such meeting held at the com
ing convention, we would attend
same.
“ T o give you our expi’ession or
views o f same, we believe that as
our supply depends on the manufac
turer, it is up to the manufacturer,
as it all depends on them.”

I personally think that it is well
that you have sent these notices to
the various jobbers who distribute
and act as manufacturer’s agents fo r
coin controlled machines and other
devices that fall in the line o f this
industry.
In the past, I have been attending
several conventions and it seems that
a few meetings are held, but not fo r
the benefit o f the jobbers and opera
tors, but only fo r a few manufactur
ers and they simply had the whole
convention in their control. I be
lieve that if you can get some jo b
bers and real big operators interest
ed in a plan such as you have out
lined in your letter, you will have a
much larger attendance at these con
ventions and they will be o f mutual
benefit to all those who attend.
I f you will plan fo r such meetings,
I will make it my business to attend
this convention and bring some o f
my friends with me.
W e certainly thank you fo r the
step that you have taken and cer
tainly hope that it will be fo r the
benefit o f the industry.
