impending activities of The Remington Arms Company in the
vending machine field.
Their entrance into this field marks the
advent of the first really large and important company into the
manufacture and sale of service machines.
Their advent into the
automatic field will give prestige to the industry.
The brains,
ability, and engineering organization which The Remington Com­
pany has so successfully used in the developing of arms, ammu­
nition, cutlery and cash registers will be utilized in building up
its latest industry.

mPany of Boston, The Remington Company takes over a concern
that has a thorough knowledge of the industry and one of the
m° st progressive of the vending machine companies.
There is
n° doubt but that the distribution of nationally advertised package
£°ods by automatic machines is extremely popular and will become
rn° re so as better machines are made.
Cigar stores, 5 and 10
cer*t stores, chain stores, factories, office buildings, railroad sta­
tions, buses, etc. are all markets for various types of machines
aild the largest manufacturers are now making articles that can
be sold in machines.
And sensing the trend of the times the
^ ° ehler Die Casting Company of Brooklyn, New York, the world’s
lat'gest producers of die castings, will shortly enter the automatic
field with a stock machine that will make possible the broadening
0f ordinary vending into a business approximating, or augmenting
that of store merchandising.
Truly, this is the age of automatic service.
The industry is
yet in its infancy but is a lusty youngster and promises to become
