You deposit your coin in the
slot, which releases the indicator
hand, which registers your weig
on the dial. Then you step off the
platform, which releases the coins
allowing it to drop on the arro^
spinning it around. Wherever the
arrow stops it indicates your f 01
tune, then the coin percolates down
the pin board, and, if it drops into
the cup, you have received y°ur
weight and fortune free. If it g °e®
into the cash box, you have Paid
for your weight and fortune. It lS
not necessary to get weighed to
get your fortune, as the fortune
mechanism works independent of
the scale, making two machines
in one.

Firms Combined,
LADIE i S AND GENTLEMEN:
, I am going to try and bring to your attention the subject of pro
viding an income for your old age (but more especially for providing
for your children).
I am the father of eleven children, and when I started out I made
UP my mind to quit working at fifty, and every time the stork perched
°n my fence, I said, “ Well, I’ll have to increase my income”— and I did.
And when I reached the fifty mark, I was just beginning to like my
j°b, and I am still in the harness. As I said before, I had to increase
my income every time the stork paid me a visit. Well, I just put out
a few more scales to operate and with the surplus earnings I built more
scales, with the result that today I own the largest coin operated scale
Plant in the world. And I build and sell more coin operated Springless
Scales than all other plants combined.
But the greatest pleasure I get out o f my success is the fact that
five of my sons are in the business with me and the prospects are that
the business I started nearly 50 years ago will continue another 50
years or more.
Now then, take my advice, start with one or more W ATLING
Springless Scales and put the surplus back into the business until you
nave a hundred or more scales—but don’t forget the stork!
Yours truly,
THOS. WATLING, Himself.
