Locker Service
Now Available
to Operators
If any were o f the opinion that
ahout everything that could be con
verted into coin operated machines
had been touched they were due fo r
a surprise at the announcement o f a
Parcel checking service, recently an
nounced by the Parloc Service, Inc.,
Indianapolis. There have been ma
chines that sold merchandise, others
for amusement and machines that
s°ld nothing, now the parcel unit sells
space. Had the operating business
been in its present stage when the
nickel phone was invented it is safe
say many an operator would be
^ n n in g telephone stations. But big
business got the m onopoly on this
hne and by exploiting it has made it
a necessity. N ow a similar necessary
service is being given over to the
coin controlled field, and independent
operators are offered the opportunity
capitalize on it.
The cabinet is no larger than the
standard correspondence filing cabi
nets. T hey are made o f steel, and
finished in green, with a double key
airangement, one o f which is oper
ated by the insertion o f a coin. The
coin releases the key which enables
the customer to open the door and
deposit his package fo r safe keeping
for as long as 24 hours. The ma
chines are made in dime and quarter
Play and are used in a number o f lo
cations am ong them corner stores at
transfer corners, parks,
beaches,
lodge halls, g o lf courses, railroads,
hotel lobbies, office building, interur-
han and buss line stations, churches
and schools. One factory uses them
as a savings feature fo r their em
ployes. The company installs the
cabinets with a compartment fo r each
employee. It is estimated that at 10
cents per day the employes save
$30.00 per year each and this money
ls used in connection with entertain

ments, etc.
Churches and lodges
have used them to profit, because
they are rendering the same service
in their corridors at a loss, and in
places o f that kind where the pro
ceeds are used fo r the benefit o f the
order the
membership find it an
ideal arrangement.
Chicago has a number o f parcel
checking units, among them the busy
corner occupied by Buck & Raynor,
druggists. Here from 25 to 36 units
out o f 48 are constantly in use and
it is claimed that these machines are
good money earners.
The heretofore prohibitive price o f
standard steel cabinets has prevented
operators from getting in to this
line, but under the direction o f W. B.
Buzzaird, the Parloc Company has
inaugurated a partial payment plan
giving a low priced, all steel coin
operated cabinet on a liberal first
payment and low monthly install
ments. This is a wide departure in
the automatic coin machine field, and
should be o f interest to operators
who have the bulk o f their turnover
invested in other machines.
Remember the old days when the
gang used to gather at the corner
and watch the women lift their skirts
above their shoe tops as they crossed
the dirty street?
Everything has
gone up since then.

It used to be polite to let a girl
