W e are happy to announce an export connection through which
we will distribute the AU TOM ATIC AGE each month in large
quantities to Latin American trade. The Latin American dealers
and operators are a genial group of people with whom it is a
pleasure to do business. They are inclined to study their fields a
bit more closely and their methods and manners are of genuine
politeness and hospitality.
Our readers will note a section printed in Spanish which will be
carried each month. The market for American made coin-oper-
ated-machines is growing in Latin American countries. Several
conditions make this a desirable trade outlet. The similarity of
coins used enables a manufacturer to supply this market with very
little change in manufacturing processes. The market for confec
tions is growing according to all reports. Chewing gum has not
been so popular in those countries, due more to the lack of educa
tion in that field. Operators tell us, however, that the better
quality of American made gum, both stick and ball gum, is gaining
ground. The best market, so we are told, is in the amusement
machine line, particularly in penny and five cent machines. Sales

Boards and other novelties have a very wide sale in Latin Ameri
can countries. W e will publish from time to time stories about
Latin American operators which will be of interest to the trade
at large.
This is only another one of the services we have been investigat
ing in this field, looking toward the increased sale of automatic
coin machines.
Saludo a Nuestros
Amigos Latino-Americanos
buenos clientes y estimados amigos latino-americanos.
The Tendency Is
Toward Quality
During recent visits among the various
manufacturing and jobbing interests we have had occasion to
observe the improved quality of vending machine merchandise. In
this connection we have also noted' a more marked influence toward
better construction. This is born out by the fact that a number
of new merchandise items have appeared on the market within the
past few months and an unusual number of new constructions in
the machine line. It seems that manufacturers are giving more
attention to the demands of the public than ever before. By the
time the convention rolls around we expect to see a number of
novel and new machines, which are a wide departure from the
usual constructions. The/ attitude of the manufacturers is encour
aging and in keeping with the trend of affairs in the industry.
