to write editorials, neither will the operators
have time to sit under the shade of the banyan tree and read them.
The operators are busy at this season of the year. From all re
ports they are making bigger money than ever before. The Coney
Island Arcades are all getting good picking. Friend Prange is
doing a fine business at River View and White City in Chicago.
Summer resorts offer a greater opportunity than ever before. The
operators have been taking advantage of the crowds that are there
gathered.
Some Dandy New Machines
Are Going to Be Announced this Fall
Apparently the
manufacturers are wise to the fact that the operators are making
money because the new machines that are coming on the market,
which are put out and vouched for by responsible manufacturers,
are receiving record breaking orders. The demand is for new
machines of fine appearance that will attract attention and get con
stant play. The increasing population of this country and use of

automobiles is bringing crowds together at certain places to an
extent never before known. The operator with a sharp eye is wise
to these opportunities and he is demanding machines that will take
in the coins at these crowded places.
Next Month Will
Be Our Birthday
We will then have reached the archaic
age of one year, at which time we will take off our swaddling
diapers and blossom out in our pretty new blue-checked gingham
pantaloons. Having passed through this crucial period in a husky
state of health we will be able to render a still greater service to
the industry during the coming year.
When Will We Reach
The Saturation Point?
That question was a bugaboo in
the minds of the automobile people and their bankers for many
years. They have quit worrying about it. Ford says that 75 per
cent of his automobiles now go for renewals. Yet they keep their
plant busy employing four and five thousand men. The radio
people have also given considerable thought to saturation but that
industry will never reach the saturation point until there is a radio
in every home and every office. Then renewals will keep their
plants busy.
There has been some talk of the saturation point in the vending
machine industry. Yet we have not reached anywhere near that
point. Several years ago it was said that the manufacture of slot
machines would soon be a thing of the past. Yet the big factories
are making more today than ever. The first line to worry about
saturation is the scale industry. That has come nearer to covering
the country than any other coin-controlled machine. Still there
are thousands of locations yet for penny scales. In some cities
peanut and ball gum machines cover the population pretty well,
but in other places the territory is not touched.

The big thing that is going to keep the industry stimulated is
new machines. Novel and ingenious machines will take the place
of the old ones. They will get increased play and keep the public
interested. Like other industries, when saturation comes, if it
ever does, we can keep busy on renewals.
