The New Organ
of the Industry
salutes the trade. W e have already, in the
preliminary work and preparation felt the impetus of a hearty
welcome.
W ith scarcely an exception the vending machine inter
ests have pronounced themselves emphatically in favor of a mes
senger to carry their news and information one to another. Every
trade of any consequence has its organ.
W hat would they do
without them ? Picture the electrical trade, the radio trade, the
steel and iron trade, the amusement trade, or any other without
a journal to portray and record its progress— where would it be?
Then if there is light in all other industries why should there be
darkness in ours?
To keep posted is vital, to keep a jum p ahead of the times is the
secret of success in this field, of all others.
There were many ways we thought of that we could be of service
to the trade through the A U T O M A T IC A G E , but it seems that
each man we have talked to had still another idea of how we could
help. Surely there are many and we are fa r from lazy. W e will
be springing to the task with all the resiliency that is in us. But
remember, this is your paper as well as ours. Do not hesitate to

exchange of ideas for all the trade.
The Need of

is recognized by eveiybody in the

wide scope— an organization of operators, and an oigani

There are several local associations of opera ois
already which are doing good work and they recognize t e
of amalgamation along national lines. One operator remar e
a
the big drawback has been the lack of a trade organ or a medium
through which the call could be issued and enthusiasm worked up
for the convention. The A U T O M A T IC A G E is at the service of
both branches of the trade in this undertaking and we will be glad
to receive letters from all who are interested so that the ball may
be started rolling toward definite action.
Men with
Better Business Ideas
, f
are needed in the operating end oi
the trade. W e find a certain percentage of keen business fellows
among the operators and a lot that should not be in t e game.
Some are too downright lazy to properly service theii mac ines
and that hurts other operators as well as the entire industry,
is admitted by everybody that the play on vending machines
throughout the country would be double its present volume today
if the business had not been greatly injured in the past; by empty
and broken machines. One of the objects of the A l
A G E is entering the field is to make better operators a n d interest
a higher class of new ones to come into the business.
