in the first detailed report subm itted
to the S ecretary o f C om m erce since
the office was transferred to the C om
m erce D epartm ent on A pril 1, last.
D espite the receipt o f 1900 m ore
new applications and 30,000 m ore
am endm ents than during the previous
year, C om m issioner o f Patents R o b
ertson in his statem ent to Secretary
H oov er, reports that the close o f the
last fiscal than a year ago.
T here w ere on ly 43,000 cases pend
in g on June 30, last, against 59,000
a year a g o ; 72,475 on June 30, 1923;
and 67,608 at the end o f the fiscal
year 1922.
A year a g o but one exam iner divi
sion had its w ork less than three
m onths behind. T h ere are now 5 un
der 2 m onths basis against on ly 8 in
this class a year ago.
Last year at this time there were
40 divisions ov er 5 m onths, 26 over
6 m onths, 9 over 7 m onths and 2 over
8 m onths. N ow
there are on ly 5
divisions over 5 m onths and none
ov er 6.
