Machine Vends Lead
Pencils Stamped
with Buyers Name
Lead pencils a t five cents each and
stam ped with y ou r name are distrib­
uted autom atically b y a vending m a­
chine that is operated easily and can
be placed w herever such outfits are
needed.
T he prospective buyer, b y
p ressin g a system o f levers, sets up
the type inside that prints his name.
This is done in such a w ay that errors
m ay be corrected b efore the im pres­
sion is made, and the entire nam e is
stam ped at once. T he m achine holds
300 pencils, does n ot easily g e t out
o f order and occu pies but little space.

This particular display card is one o f
a series bein g run b y the Universal
V en din g C om pany to prom ote the
sale o f peanuts from their elevated
peanut machines. The co p y fo r the
current poster is ex ceedin gly clever.
It show s in a disappearing effect
g row n-u ps and children at the circus
feed in g elephants and in bolder color
a reprodu ction o f a scene enacted
hourly, that o f elevated patrons fe e d ­
in g peanuts to pigeons gathered
around peanut m achines on the ele­
vated platform s. T he current litho­
graph is particularly appropriate this
m onth inasm uch as a large circus
happens to be visitin g Chicago.
New Concern
A lth ough the C hicago Slot M achine
E xch a n ge has been in business fo r
on ly about a h a lf year, it is said they
are n ow the cou n try ’s largest job b ers
o f coin operated m achinery.
This
success is due unquestionably to the
strenuous Mr. P ace, the m anager o f
the E xchange. Mr. Pace was fo r ­
m erly sales m anager f o r tw o o f the
large coin m achine m anufacturers.
New Postcard Machine
General M anager G ebert, o f the
A dvan ce M achine Com pany, Chicago,
111., m anufacturers o f vending ma­
chines o f all types recen tly returned
to the city from a successful sales
trip to D etroit. M. G ebert reports a
very enthusiastic reception on the
part o f the trade over the new post
card vender the A dvan ce is m anufac­
turing.
